    If you have never worked for a company that uses AD, this is worthless!!! It is better just to lab up and study server, ad, gp from gound up! The company will teach you if ur doing helpdesk, desktop support, and if they are smart will never give u access to gpo and the other aspects of AD.

      Active Directory is the identity system running on Windows Server. Azure Active Directory (or Azure AD) is now known as Microsoft Entra ID, and that's the identity system we run and manage in the Microsoft Azure cloud.

    Does upgrading from Server 2022 to Server 2025 have license implications? ARe Windows server updates going to become free, like Windows 10 to 11 was/is? It's nice that it's possible, but if the cost is $$$$ then I'd rather not. Even worse, if it's trivial to perform the update by someone who doesn't understand the cost and license ramifications for an organisation it could be a massive problem.

    .Net security patches are frequent, every month or other month, so hot-patching won't work. So that needs to be fixed. Besides, Windows sometimes has memory leaks, or applications do, so a monthly reboot has some other uses besides patching.

    Nice to see improvements on Windows Server, I would certainly like to see the Windows Store being available for those with mixed Workstation use and remote desktop plus boot from a better filesystem than NTFS, eg. ZFS/ReFS with options to have parity/more complex setups and be as easy and it should be because right now storage spaces just does not work the easy way out of the box through server manager on 2022 in fact since 2019, 2016 used to work though..

    Hi. Thanks for this great tutorial. How did you generate .PUB file? I'm trying to use a .PEM file I have created in Azure SSH service but I'm being denied and I don't know how to associate SSH key files with Arc servers. Would you please show me how to use the same SSH key across all Arc servers?

    • @ITOpsTalk
      @ITOpsTalk 2 місяці тому

      When generating keys a public (.PUB) and a private key are created. If you created a key with Azure, then the .PEM is likely your private key and your public key could be a resource in Azure. If you are looking to generate keys locally, you can follow this documentation: learn.microsoft.com/windows-server/administration/openssh/openssh_keymanagement#user-key-generation To deploy the keys, follow this documentation: learn.microsoft.com/windows-server/administration/openssh/openssh_keymanagement#deploying-the-public-key

      @@ITOpsTalk thanks for the reply. so... you're deploying a .PUB file to the newly attached machine into Arc. you're also mentioning that's the key file you use for all your Arc machines so... can i deploy the same .PUB to all Arc machines and from an admin user session (any admin user) should i be able to connect? what should be the strategy for keys rotation? lastly... is it not possible then to use Azure SSH service for this instead of manually deploying a .PUB file to all of the Arc connected machines?

    • @FerYop
      @FerYop 2 місяці тому

      ok no worries. i found that if i install WindowsOpenSSH Azure extension using New-AzConnectedMachineExtension cmdlet, it will automate all for me (it'll install and configure OpenSSH directly in the server), and i'll be able to directly connect to Arc machines using the same .PEM file.
